[Crypto] Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz is among the investors that received a windfall this week when billions of dollars worth of tokens were issued to the creators, backers and owners of the Bored Ape Yacht Club digital collectables. ApeCoin’s release is one of the most high-profile examples of “airdrops”, in which cryptocurrency projects effectively give away free digital tokens to collectors, employees and investors, sometimes minting new millionaires overnight.

[Pharma] As the war in Ukraine rages on, Europe is facing a new crisis. Demand for potassium iodide pills have soared, with buyers stockpiling and pharmacies selling out over night. On eBay, four boxes of Thyrosafe potassium iodide tablets were listed for $132.50 on Monday. Another listing for a box of IOSAT 130 mg pills was selling for $89.95 each. The 14-pack box of the IOSAT tablets, made by Anbex, sell for $13.99 on the manufacturer's website. Potassium iodide helps reduce the effects of radiation on the body.

[Commodities] Milk prices are soaring on the expectation that an already tight market will be hit by further disruption to fertiliser and feed supplies and inflationary pressures following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Bad weather in New Zealand, the US and Australia had already combined with rocketing gas prices and pandemic-related supply chain disruptions to put pressure on milk producers in the five biggest exporters before the war.
